#Awich is an Okinawa-born rapper who fell in love with hip hop at 14 years old. Growing up near some of the biggest U.S. military bases in Asia, she was surrounded by American music and culture. “I felt like the words that were in rap music and hip hop were different from other genres of music. It was more focused on the message. It was more poetic to me.
