PWHL salary disclosure shows there's still work to be done. 😬
For the first time in the PWHL’s history, the PWHLPA has voted to publicly disclose player salaries. ✉️
Nearly 100 players earned under $50,000 USD last season, exposing just how wide the financial gap remains in pro hockey. 👀
Marie-Philip Poulin, one of the sport’s biggest stars, earned $110,216 in 2025–26, despite adding a Walter Cup and Playoff MVP to her résumé. That’s still less than one-seventh of the NHL minimum salary ($775,000 USD). 🤯
Ottawa’s Emily Clark led the league at $126,090, while the league minimum sat at just $37,131.50. 😳
Key takeaway: talent at the top isn’t the issue... the pay structure is. 🥴
With no salary cap but an average team salary requirement, most of the league is still clustered at the lower end, with 97 players earning under $50K. 😵💫
As the PWHL expands to 12 teams, the league is growing fast, but player salaries are still playing catch-up. 😐
