What I’ve learned from 20 years of keeping a training log...  ~11,000 hours of training has taught me a lot. Keeping detailed logs through all of it has allowed me to track when I felt good, when I didn’t, what worked, and what didn’t. In a new series of posts, I’ll break down some of my biggest takeaways - what worked for me, what I’d keep the same, and what I would change if I could go back and do it all again. What worked: 1️⃣ Enjoying whatever it was I was doing. Whether it was running, XC skiing, lifting weights, roller skiing, road cycling, mountain biking, hiking, etc.. I always made sure I was truly enjoying it most of the time. If I wasn’t, I’d switch activities for a bit to give myself a break. 2️⃣ Taking 2-4 weeks completely off each year. Sometimes consecutive weeks, sometimes spread out in the off season. This allows both your mind and body to get refreshed and motivated. What I would change: 1️⃣ Mobility.
