"Everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes the mosasaurs, apparently.” A newly identified apex predator once ruled the ancient seas of Texas. Researchers from the Perot Museum, SMU, and the American Museum of Natural History identified Tylosaurus rex. The massive mosasaur stretched up to 43 feet long and lived about 80 million years ago. The newly named species was identified using fossils discovered across North Texas, including the holotype specimen now on display at the Perot Museum in Dallas. #Texas #Dinosaurs #Paleontology #ScienceNews #PerotMuseum
