Wyn Wiley, the creator behind Pattie Gonia, has spent the last 7 years building a massive platform around climate activism, becoming known for completing hikes in 6-inch heels while raising money for environmental non-profits. 👏
But now, as Pattie Gonia expands into clothing and activism-focused merch, a trademark filing has sparked a legal dispute with Patagonia…including what the company calls a $1 “nominal” lawsuit.
“While we wish we didn’t have to do this — and actively engaged with Pattie for several years to avoid this — it has become necessary to protect the brand we have spent the last 50 years building,” Patagonia said in a statement shared to Instagram.
Pattie Gonia has since responded online, saying the lawsuit could financially devastate her business and erase years of work tied to her activist identity and community.
