The Palm Bay Police Department would like to congratulate Virginia Kilmer on her promotion to Commander! Prior to her law enforcement career, Commander Kilmer served in the United States Air Force. After, she transitioned to her career here at the Palm Bay Police Department in 2010. She has served as a road patrol officer, Major Case Unit detective, and as a task force officer on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. In 2019, she was promoted to Sergeant, where she served on patrol and in our Training and Recruiting Unit. In 2021, she was promoted to Lieutenant, where she served in the Uniform Services Division, Community Services Division, and as our Public Information Officer. She was recently promoted to Commander, where she will be assigned to our Support Services Division, which includes Victim Services, Records, Communications, Logistics, VCOP Program, School Crossing Guards, and the Community Resource Unit.
