In Maryland, it turns out construction workers don't need to be in the work zone for drivers to get a fine.⁠ ⁠ One News4 viewer found out the hard way, when they got a $120 ticket for driving more than 12 mph over the posted speed limit through a work zone.⁠ ⁠ They didn't dispute the speed — just the presence of the workers.⁠ ⁠ But even without the workers, you can be ticketed with a speed camera violation. Some of those fines can go as high as $500.⁠ ⁠ The Maryland State Highway Administration says it's to make sure drivers are fully focused driving through complex work zones, which sometimes come with lane changes. That way, it's a habit when the workers are present.⁠ ⁠ But some Maryland drivers aren't thrilled.⁠ ⁠ What do you think?
