LIONS CLAIM FIRST CIF-SS TITLE: The jserra.softball team has tasted the thrill of championship glory for the first time in program history on Friday, as the Lions edged the La Mirada Matadores 3-2 in the CIF-SS Division 1 championship game at Deanna Manning Stadium at Bill Barber Memorial Park in Irvine. The Lions close out their run to the championship with nine wins in their last 10 games and finish 25-8. JSerra put the first run of the game on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Senior Zena Edwards reached on fielders choice with two outs and stole second base. Freshman Magenta De Arte worked the count full at 3-2 before lining a sharp single into right field to score Edwards. JSerra added to the advantage in the bottom of the second.
