Bushiroad has announced it is selling its entire New Japan Pro-Wrestling stake to TV Asahi and CyberAgent, ending a 14-year run as NJPW's parent company.
⠀
The deal covers Bushiroad's full ~70% stake valued at approximately ¥3.6 billion (~$24 million USD). NJPW will become a consolidated subsidiary of TV Asahi, with CyberAgent as a joint partner.
⠀
Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani: "For the past 14 years, we have believed in the power of professional wrestling as a wonderful form of entertainment. The future of NJPW is brighter than ever."
⠀
NJPW president Hiroshi Tanahashi: "Our mission to create the best ring and entertain everyone remains unchanged."
⠀
CyberAgent owns ABEMA (current WWE Japan streaming rights) and CyberFight (NOAH, DDT, Tokyo Joshi Pro). NJPW and Stardom are no longer under the same parent company. Full statement:
