“Every day is different and even the small interactions can mean a lot.”⁣ ⁣ This #ReconciliationWeek, we highlighting one of our Police Aboriginal Liaison Officers (PALOs), Tia.⁣ ⁣ PALOs work closely with Aboriginal Community Liaison Officers (ACLOs), community groups and communities to help break down barriers with police. It’s a role grounded in trust, connection and community.⁣ ⁣ Originally from New Zealand, and with family in the job, policing was always something Tia wanted to pursue. Alongside her PALO role, she also works in a Proactive Policing Unit, focusing on building genuine relationships and helping create culturally safe and respectful interactions with police.⁣ ⁣ “As a Māori woman, I’ve always valued culture, community and looking out for people.
