We finally made it to the hospital… and I thought, okay, we’re here. We’re safe. But then everything shifted again. They told us they couldn’t care for us there. That we needed to be transported to another hospital that could. And not just a simple transfer… an emergency helicopter or ambulance. My heart sank. I remember just sitting there thinking, what is happening? It didn’t feel real. It felt like I was watching someone else’s life play out. Everything was moving so fast… and at the same time, I felt completely frozen. This was no longer a “wait and see” situation. This was serious.
