This video goes out to all the Mikes out there because May 24th is apparently National Mike Day! In honor of today, Mike, our Facilities and Guest Services Manager, did some letterpress printing as he is the only Mike who works at the Sacramento History Museum. What Mike printed was “NATIONAL MIKE DAY” using two different sizes of wood type with MIKE being 30 line pica in size (5 inches) and NATIONAL DAY being 15 line pica (2.5 inches). This wood type of the French Clarendon typeface was made by the Hamilton Wood Type Company in the late 1880s.
