A journalist at the Cannes Film Festival is facing backlash after allegedly ignoring the Korean cast and crew during a press conference for the sci-fi thriller “Hope.” According to reports, the unidentified reporter only addressed Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander before remarking, “I don’t know the rest of you,” despite director Na Hong-jin and cast members Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon and Taylor Russell being seated at the table. The reporter also asked whether Fassbender and Vikander, who are married in real life, were hired together as a “package” deal. Na later clarified the actors were cast independently. Clips from the event quickly spread online, with many social media users criticizing the interaction as rude and racially insensitive. “Hope” is currently competing for the Palme d’Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. 📽️Edited by: Gabe Jung 🤳Click our linkinbio to sign up to our daily newsletter. 📰Follow us for the latest Asian News Ne...
