The Golden Tornado secured its first championship in school history at Wednesday’s WPIAL Class 6A baseball title game, beating No. 3 North Allegheny 4-2 in front of Butler’s student section that took up about half of the first-base-line seats. The team overcame a rocky fifth inning and regained the lead in the bottom half, holding it through the end to secure the WPIAL title. The team will play in the PIAA tournament for the first time since 1992, and the second time in school history.
