#USask Huskies Chief Athletics Officer Shannon Chinn's family arrived in Canada in the 1890s searching for opportunity in British Columbia. In 1949, after two years of searching for work, Shannon's grandfather Stanley Chinn (PhD), was appointed adjunct professor in Agriculture and Bioresources at University of Saskatchewan. He and his family, including Shannon's father Richard "Dick" Chinn, made their way from B.C. to Saskatoon to build a new life. “Until I read my grandpa’s book, I didn’t realize that, even with his PhD, he had such a hard time finding meaningful employment. He never talked about it. He just put his head down and worked harder, creating a successful life for our family.” That hard work laid the foundation and in a full circle moment, almost 70 years later, Shannon became head of the USask Huskies.
