Phoenix drivers are getting hit harder than the rest of Arizona when it comes to car insurance.
According to Bankrate’s 2026 insurance data, drivers in Phoenix pay about 16% more for car insurance than the statewide Arizona average.
Arizona’s average full-coverage premium is listed around $2,644 per year, but Phoenix drivers are paying more than that — adding even more pressure on top of rent, gas, groceries, registration, and everyday bills.
Insurance analysts point to things like accident claims, expensive vehicle repairs, parts and labor costs, theft risk, and traffic density as some of the factors that can push rates higher in big metro areas.
