Phoenix firefighters responded to a major early morning fire near 25th Street and Greenway Road after three vacant buildings became fully involved. According to the Phoenix Fire Department, crews were dispatched around 4:15 a.m. for reports of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames and took a defensive position due to the conditions, meaning crews fought the fire from safer exterior positions rather than risking firefighters inside buildings that were already heavily damaged. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm because of the size and extent of the incident, with about 90 firefighters dispatched. Crews used handlines and elevated master streams to bring the fire under control. Phoenix Fire says all three buildings were vacant, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Have a story we should cover? DM us.
