A Yavapai County deputy’s detective work led to two arrests and the recovery of about 2,100 gallons of stolen diesel fuel after multiple Seligman gas stations were reportedly targeted early Friday morning.
According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation started after one gas station reported a major diesel theft. Deputies later learned a nearby station had also been hit the same night.
During the investigation, a deputy located a parked U-Haul matching the description of one of the suspect vehicles and noticed diesel fuel leaking from the cargo area. Deputies say shoe prints from the fuel spill led directly to a nearby hotel room, where two suspects were arrested with help from YCSO detectives and Arizona DPS.
