Not every Arizona highway patrol call involves speeding drivers and flashing lights. AZDPS says troopers got a call from a concerned citizen Friday night about a mother duck and her ducklings trying to cross AZ-24 in Mesa. When a trooper responded, they found one of the ducklings had gotten separated from the rest of its family. After what DPS jokingly described as a “high-speed” foot pursuit by duck standards, the duckling was safely caught and given temporary shelter until it could be released to a responsible party. Honestly, after all the wild stories that come through Arizona every week, it’s nice to see one where the suspect is just a tiny duck with zero plans of cooperating.
