The command to forgive is not a transaction. Jesus isn't saying your forgiveness of someone else purchases God's forgiveness of you. Grace doesn't work that way. A person who has genuinely received grace will not be comfortable harboring an unforgiving spirit. The two are incompatible. Not because forgiving earns anything.
