Throw back to when the Grand National Championship raced in Tennessee in 1983, when Jay Springsteen won the Knoxville Half-Mile National at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Knoxville.
That season, however, belonged to Randy Goss, who claimed his second championship by holding off defending champ Ricky Graham by just eight points. Graham made a late-season charge by winning the final three races, but Goss held firm to take home the No. 1 plate.
Next week, Progressive AFT will return to the state with the Nashville Short Track on June 6th.
