This Canal Winchester home looks pretty good for 189 years old 😳➡️
The house at 37 Liberty St. is believed to date back to 1837. It appears on maps from the 1850s, when Canal Winchester was still simply known as “Winchester”.
It was once home to the neighborhood tanner. Years later, it was remodeled to include an apartment. For a time, a beauty salon operated out of the home.
In 1975, the building was purchased by Betty and Jim Murray, and they restored the historic residence. In this image, Betty is watering the flowers in May 1977.
🏡 Nearly 190 years later, the house remains private – and a frequent stop on the Tour of Homes hosted by the cwhistoricalsociety.
