Crazy I’m already done with night shifts by the end of PGY2 (second year)! My program is 4 years but extremley front loaded, so 1st and 2nd year residents take ALL the overnight, weekend, and holiday call coverage. Once I start PGY3 in July I’ll be working a 9am-5pm outpatient schedule for an entire year without working any weekends or nights! This is almost unheard of in residency. working 6 days a week the entire first 2 years has been rough to say the least, so it feels sooooo good to finally be reaching the light at the end of the tunnel 🥹 my time on the weekends will finally be entirely MINE after 10 years of studying and working 24/7 I will somewhat miss the chaos of night shift in the emergency room, and definitely will consider emergency psych as a part of my attending job once I finish residency! #medicalschool #psychiatry #psychwards #residency #medstudent
