Here is what is actually happening. Your hip flexors are not short or stiff because they need more length. They are locked in overdrive because the muscles that should be sharing the workload have checked out. Your gluteus maximus stops firing when you sit on it for eight hours a day. Your deep core loses the ability to stabilize your pelvis. So your hip flexors pick up the slack. They grip, they tighten, they guard. And then you stretch them, which temporarily loosens the grip but does nothing about the underlying weakness. Within hours, they tighten right back up because the problem was never length.
