As the world waits to see if a peace deal can be struck between Iran and the US, the chief of the UN nuclear watchdog tells CGTN it would be “great news” – but that areas of disagreement still remain between the sides.
“We have been deeply involved in this situation, in trying to find an acceptable peaceful diplomatic solution to the crisis around the nuclear program in Iran,” IAEA chief Rafael Grossi told CGTN’s Li Jianhua.
“If this is signed it will be great news because at least according to what is being announced there, there will be 60 days to look into the nuclear aspects on which we have been working for a long time.”
However, Grossi warned “we still see important areas of disagreement between the two sides,” particularly over highly enriched uranium.
