The leader of a Thai rescue team said his volunteers found five of the seven people trapped in a Laos cave on Wednesday.
The seven Lao nationals entered the cave in central Laos's Xaisomboun province last week to look for gold, but a landslide triggered by heavy rain blocked their exit, according to a local volunteer group and the state-run Lao Phattha News.
Volunteer groups gave differing accounts of how many of the trapped people had been located.
Kengkard Bongawong, head of the Metta Tham Kalasin Rescue, said that his team will search for the remaining two on Thursday.
But the Laos "Rescue Volunteer for People" organization said all seven had been located and were safe.
