Trauma is not defined by what happened.
It is defined by what your nervous system had to do to survive what happened.
Sometimes it looks like hyper-independence.
Sometimes it looks like people-pleasing.
Sometimes it looks like always being on guard, even when you’re safe.
One behaviour alone does not confirm trauma. Context, patterns, and your personal history matter.
But if these patterns feel familiar, it may be worth asking not “What’s wrong with me?” but “What happened to me that made this feel necessary?”
