June is #AphasiaAwarenessMonth Aphasia is a language disorder most often caused by stroke that affects speaking, understanding, reading, and writing. It does not affect intelligence. More than 2 million people in the U.S. are living with aphasia, yet most Americans have never heard of it. Nearly 1 in 3 stroke survivors experiences aphasia. At Stroke Onward, we support the full recovery journey—communication, emotional healing, identity, and connection. Recovery is not just about regaining skills, but rebuilding confidence and finding new ways to engage with the world. Tips for Carepartners, friends & family: 🗣️Speak slowly and use simple sentences 🗣️Give extra time for responses 🗣️Use gestures, write, or draw to help communicate 🗣️Include your loved one in conversations and decisions 🗣️Celebrate small wins along the way #StrokeOnward #StrokeRecovery #Aphasia
