Next up is Amaia! Amaia is a School Without Walls student who has been a core part of JR Crew for five years, starting all the way back in 8th grade Learn to Row. Since then, she’s been absolute royalty on the port side, bringing home a silver at Mid-Atlantics and a gold at WMIRA her freshman year, followed by back-to-back silver medals at WMIRAs during her sophomore and junior seasons. Amaia is famous for her unbeatable positivity and her ability to handle literally whatever the river throws at her... like the time her boat accidentally hit a goose while rowing at a 38 (don’t worry, the goose survived… maybe). Whether she was powering us through morning practices to the sound of Sia’s “The Greatest” or making sure everyone got their fill of fajitas at the Chuckwagon, Amaia always kept her focus on what mattered most: her teammates.
