With the 8th overall pick in the 2007 draft, the Boston Bruins selected forward Zach Hamill from the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. To begin his junior career, he played 4 games for the Silvertips before being sent down to the Port Coquitlam Buckaroos, which is a team part of the now named Pacific Junior Hockey League; the 3rd tier junior league of the Ontario Hockey Association and dominated with 61 points in 39 games. The 2004-05 season was his first full year playing in the WHL where his playmaking skills came to the forefront with 33 points in 57 games, 25 of which were assists. Hamill continued to improve over the next two seasons and finished the 2006-07 season with 93 points in 69 games, along with claiming several Silvertips franchise records.
