The New York Rangers really know how to pick ‘em. In 2003 they selected the city native, Hugh Jessiman at 12th overall. Jessiman was a big right winger that put up 52 points in 18 games for the prep high school he attended and would continue to play very well the following year for Dartmouth College in the NCAA; putting up 47 points in 34 games during his freshman year. After such a successful freshman season, the Rangers felt comfortable enough to select him at 12th overall. However, sophomore year his production would decline to 33 points in 34 games. Injuries limited his junior season to just 12 games and only put up 2 points. Instead of returning for his senior season, he decided to sign his ELC and more or less split the 2005-06 season between the Ranger’s AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, and their ECHL team at the time, Charlotte Checkers.
