Kevin Taplin has worked at UC Berkeley for almost 34 years. He first started as a summer worker when he was younger and now acts as a supervisor for Cal Zero Waste. Taplin has worked endlessly to maintain our beautiful campus, from landscaping to driving the Cal clean-up trucks to helping pilot recycling and composting initiatives; he has done it all. Taplin says this university has given him security, opportunity and long-term friends. Even though he is a Berkeley native and has strong roots in the Cal community, he also loves traveling the world with his partner, often cruising and snorkeling together. His favorite places so far have been Belize and St. Thomas, with Alaska, Europe and Fiji next on his “to visit” list. Take a seat on the Bear’s Bench!
