Over the weekend, we celebrated International Women’s day and Lee Tracy proudly recognizes Angel Myers McIlrath. She is the District Attorney for the 19th Circuit Court District and first woman elected for the DA role. She supports and advocates for children by drafting and lobbying legislation to better protect them. She speaks on this topic to local organizations and served as a member of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Service Award for the Mississippi Bar, Angel teaches law enforcement, attorneys, and medical professionals on subjects of child abuse and exploitation. She also won the Success Women’s Conference Woman of Achievement Government Award. Angel founded the Soso Strong Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in honor of her daughter, Sophia, who lost her battle with terminal brain cancer.
