According to Variety, a live-action Streets of Rage movie is in development at Lionsgate. Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the writers behind Sonic the Hedgehog, have been hired to write the screenplay, while The Harder They Fall director Jeymes Samuel is attached to direct. Released for the Sega Genesis in 1991, Streets of Rage is an iconic side-scrolling beat ‘em up that follows three former police officers fighting as vigilantes to clean up a city controlled by a massive crime syndicate.
