Opening on June 25, 2004, Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride transformed the former E.T. Adventure show building into Universal Studios Hollywood’s first major roller coaster. Combining state of the art ride technology, animatronics, special effects, immersive audio, and a high speed launch system, the attraction quickly became one of the park’s most popular rides.
Based on The Mummy film franchise, riders journey through ancient Egyptian tombs filled with scarab beetles, warrior mummies, fire effects, and the curse of Imhotep before being launched at speeds up to 45 mph. While its sister attraction at Universal Studios Florida is larger, many enthusiasts consider the Hollywood version to feature the more intense roller coaster experience.
