Malia Thoms is a junior infielder for Nebraska, a steady presence in the lineup, and part of a program competing on one of the biggest stages in college softball right now at the clearwaterinvite. But before we interviewed her, we talked to someone who knows her best… her younger brother Ridge. He travelled from Nebraska to Florida to watch her play. He told us he looks up to her and “couldn’t ask for a better sister.” When we later told Malia what he said, she got emotional. This is what people don’t always see. Behind the travel, the training, the competition, and the spotlight is a family that shows up. She has two younger brothers who grew up watching her play, and she’s always made time to support them right back. Different sports. Same commitment. That kind of support system doesn’t just build athletes. It builds people. This is why we do what we do, to tell the stories behind the jerseys.
