I’ll never forget going with my dad to see my first Van Gogh exhibit.. All the quick, dancing strokes, they weren’t neat or perfect, but swirled and twisted over the canvas like they had somewhere urgent to be. I kept wanting to get right up close to look at them, my eyes getting blurry and confused at what I was seeing... my dad explained to me that I needed to actually distance myself from the painting, to take several steps back in order to see the full picture and how each tiny stroke, each moment, worked together.
For the first time it made me realize, beautiful things don’t have to be perfect. They can be messy and wild and uneven. They can ache and glow at the same time.
Those trips with my dad to the museum weren’t simply about seeing paintings, but about seeing the world differently.
May this beautiful canvas print serve as our daily reminder in our home, that there is so much beauty in the chaos if you just step back far enough to see the full picture 🙏🏼
