Spellers from 32 schools across Durham and Orange counties gathered at Duke University to compete in the Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by Duke Community Affairs. Students from Durham Public Schools, Chapel Hill–Carrboro City Schools, and Orange County Schools put their vocabulary to the test for a chance to advance to the @ScrippsNationalSpellingBee. Three finalists earned medals, and one champion will represent the region on the national stage—with $1,500 in travel support from Duke Community Affairs.
