People are starting to push back against AI search. Traffic to DuckDuckGo’s “No AI” search page has reportedly tripled since Google’s latest AI search update. The page lets users search without AI-assisted answers, AI-generated images, or AI chat turned on by default. Basically, it gives people the old-school search experience again. DuckDuckGo has also released browser extensions to make its AI-free search option the default in Chrome and Firefox. And this isn’t happening in isolation. Earlier reports suggested DuckDuckGo app installs jumped after Google’s AI push, with iOS installs reportedly rising by 33% on average and peaking close to 70%. Google says AI Mode is one of the biggest upgrades to Search ever. But the numbers suggest something else: not everyone wants AI inside every search result.
