⚖️ The Karmelo Anthony trial has officially begun — and the case that gripped the nation is now in a courtroom. Karmelo Anthony was indicted on first-degree murder in the April 2025 killing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet in Frisco, Texas. Jury selection started this week at the Collin County Courthouse, with opening arguments set to follow. Judge John Roach has enforced a gag order, barred cameras from the courtroom, and prohibited other electronic devices — citing the need to protect the defendant's right to a fair trial given the "significant public and media interest" in the case. Anthony has maintained he acted in self-defense. Under Texas law, prosecutors must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that it was NOT self-defense — making that claim central to the entire trial. Anthony's mother has also spoken out, saying her family has been "under attack" since the incident — targeted and harassed before her son has even had a fair trial. Two families. Two teenagers....
