One of the world’s biggest retailers is taking on one of the world’s biggest challenges—and it’s recruiting thousands of manufacturing and supply chain partners to join the fight. The goal set by walmart: Avoid or reduce 1 gigaton (1 billion metric tons) of greenhouse gases from the global value chain by 2030. The megaretailer developed the project in alignment with the Paris Agreement, working in collaboration with world_wildlife, environmental_defense_fund, and global climate nonprofit CDP. To help the nearly 5,000 suppliers enrolled in the plan deliver on their individual goals—and contribute to the cumulative tally—Walmart developed a platform packed with toolkits, reports, calculators, and other resources.
