During Apollo 16 in 1972, astronaut Ken Mattingly lost his wedding ring inside the spacecraft. In microgravity, small objects float and move with cabin air, making them hard to find. Days later during a spacewalk, the ring drifted near the open hatch. It bounced off his helmet and was recovered. Citation Wired Magazine reports the event in an interview article.
