LIONS POSTGAME: The freshman duo of Magenta De Arte and Ava Born played large roles in helping the jserra.softball team become CIF-SS champions for the first time in school history on Friday, as both produced two-out RBI hits to propel the Lions past the La Mirada Matadores 3-2 in the CIF-SS Division 1 Championship Game at Deanna Manning Stadium at Bill Barber Memorial Park in Irvine. De Arte, who put the Lions on the board in the first inning with a two-out RBI single to right field, detailed her mindset throughout the seven-pitch at-bat and providing run support for starting pitcher Liliana Escobar. Born, who supplied an RBI double to center in the bottom of the second inning, spoke about looking for her pitch to square up with two-strikes and two outs.
