Set on the eve of Kenyaโs first democratic elections, Waafrika 123 takes audiences to the rural village of Luoland, where Bobby, an American lesbian, falls in love with Awino, a trans man from the Luo tribe. As political tensions rise and famine strikes, the couple becomes the target of fear and blame, forcing their community to confront tradition, identity, and the realities of change.
A powerful story of love, courage, and belonging, Waafrika 123 explores what happens when people dare to live their truth in a world determined to silence them.
Featuring the work of Kobina Hagan, a Ghanaian artist whose practice explores identity, storytelling, memory, and the power of the body beyond language.
