The latest UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll shows a close race between Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer and Republican Steve Hilton in the California gubernatorial primary election.
Becerra, a former state attorney general and former U.S. secretary of health and human services, led the poll with support from approximately 25% of likely voters, followed closely by Hilton at 21% and Steyer at 19%. The top two vote-getters in the June primary election will advance to the November general election.
The Berkeley IGS Poll surveyed 8,678 registered voters — including 5,472 likely voters — and was conducted online in English and Spanish
