The latest UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll shows a close race between Democrats Xavier Becerra and Tom Steyer and Republican Steve Hilton in the California gubernatorial primary election.⁠ ⁠ Becerra, a former state attorney general and former U.S. secretary of health and human services, led the poll with support from approximately 25% of likely voters, followed closely by Hilton at 21% and Steyer at 19%.
