About a year ago I decided to branch out into sports photography with no network, no experience, just me and a healthy dosis of delulu. One year in these are a few things I wish I had known when I started, but wouldn't have changed anything: 1. Impostor syndrome comes with the territory, learn to deal with it so it doesn't paradise you before you even start. 2. Being nice goes a long way. I've gotten some seriously cool opportunities just by asking nicely. I mean, the worst that can happen is they either say no, or say nothing. Also, the industry is very (and I mean VERY) small. 3. Just because you have not shot sports before, doesn't mean you don't have the skills for it. Have you shot weddings? That attention to detail and storytelling πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³πŸ€ŒπŸ½ those concerts you shot? Poor light and fast moving objects!! You get the drill. 4. If you don't know where to start, start small. Every rep compounds, every game you'll get better, believe me. When I look at the pics from the first hock...
