Artisan ice cream chain Salt & Straw is on the market and a report from Reuters suggests the Portland company could be worth more than $200 million. Salt & Straw started 15 years ago as an ice cream cart in Northeast Portland run by cousins Kim and Tyler Malek. It now has more than 50 shops across the country in Arizona, Florida, California, New York and Texas, among other states. Salt & Straw has eight locations in the Portland area and just last month began selling its ice cream in grocery stores for the first time. Reuters reported that Salt & Straw’s annual sales top $100 million. The news agency said Salt & Straw is working with an investment bank to find a buyer.
