Hundreds of people across the Chicago area, northwest Indiana, Michigan and beyond reported seeing a fireball streak across the sky, according to sightings submitted to the American Meteor Society. On social media, residents from Grayslake to Arlington Heights and elsewhere described seeing a bright ball of light, with some also reporting a loud boom.
