An enormous Tyrannosaurus rex known as “Gus” is coming to Sotheby’s Geek Week 2026.
Standing over 12 feet tall and stretching nearly 38 feet from nose to tail, this remarkable exhibition-ready specimen preserves 183 fossil bone elements, including an exceptionally rare set of gastralia — or “belly ribs” — rarely seen mounted together. Even more extraordinary are the fossilized traces of a violent prehistoric life: healed fractures, bite marks to the skull and body, and evidence of ancient combat or scavenging still visible millions of years later.
“Gus” will headline Sotheby’s annual Geek Week series alongside rare meteorites, space exploration artifacts, scientific breakthroughs and legendary technology including the celebrated Apple-1 computer. From dinosaurs to lunar history, Geek Week 2026 brings together some of the most extraordinary objects ever offered at auction.
