The Slippery Rock Farmers Market gives local businesses a boost with about 400 customers coming out each Saturday morning to see what will be offered, according to stall operator and Normand Homestead owner Tamila Normand. Not all the vendors start out as businesses. Gail Staub of Black Shepherd Farm began growing her own herbs to improve her health before she decided to sell them at the market. Other businesses started at the market then expanded to brick and mortar stores. “It has really gotten quite big,” said Normand. “We always encourage people that live within Butler County to be part of the market.
